Job Summary

The University of Birmingham is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of Estates to lead the Estates Division and play a key role in shaping and delivering the University's ambitious Campus Vision. As a strategic leader, you will provide expert advice to the University Executive Board and drive excellence in service delivery across the University's large and varied estate.

About the Role

The Director of Estates will be responsible for leading the Estates Division, comprising c.200 staff, and overseeing significant financial resources. You will be responsible for delivering the Campus Masterplan and major capital projects, as well as providing strategic advice to the University Executive Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Estates Division and drive excellence in service delivery
  • Develop and implement the Campus Masterplan and deliver major capital projects
  • Provide strategic advice to the University Executive Board
  • Oversee significant financial resources and manage budgets
  • Collaborate with staff, students, partners, and neighbours to deliver the Campus Vision

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

Proven experience in estates leadership roles within large, complex industry-leading organisationsA track record of delivering major capital programmes and setting a clear visionExcellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a teamStrong strategic thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills
