The University of Birmingham is seeking a highly experienced and visionary Director of Estates to lead the Estates Division and play a key role in shaping and delivering our new Campus Vision. As a strategic leader, you will provide expert advice to the Vice Chancellor, the Registrar, and the Chief Operating Officer, and lead the delivery of ambitious major capital projects.
About the Role
The Director of Estates will be responsible for leading a team of c.200 staff, managing significant financial resources, and delivering excellence in service delivery across a large and varied university estate. You will work closely with staff, students, partners, and neighbours to develop and implement the 2045 Campus Vision, a broad framework of ideas for how the University's estate could be developed over the next two decades and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Estates Division and deliver strategic advice to senior university leaders
- Develop and implement the 2045 Campus Vision and Campus Masterplan
- Deliver ambitious major capital projects and manage significant financial resources
- Lead a team of c.200 staff and promote excellence in service delivery
- Collaborate with staff, students, partners, and neighbours to achieve the University's goals
Requirements
We are seeking an individual with proven experience in estates leadership roles within large, complex industry-leading organisations. You will have a track record of delivering major capital programmes, setting a clear vision, and inspiring your team to deliver. You will also be a collaborative team player and have a passion for shaping and delivering ambitious projects.
