Inspired Recruitment is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our team, focusing on aerospace projects related to fuel testing systems. This role requires onsite presence for four days a week.

The successful candidate will bring expertise in project management and optimization of installation, as well as production acceptance testing and validation for new oil and fuel flow rigs within the assembly and testing area for heat exchangers. Emphasis will be placed on enhancing manufacturing and production reliability, maintainability, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of production and process engineering.

2. Supervise the design of specialized tooling for manufacturing processes and manage existing and new tooling documentation.

3. Identify, manage, and implement process enhancements within the designated area and, when necessary, across the factory (HSE, CI, NPI).

4. Possess a solid understanding of instrumentation, calibration, and data logging techniques.

5. Demonstrate experience in constructing and operating production acceptance test rigs (including oil and fuel flow, fuel flushing, hydraulic proof pressure, etc.).

6. Have knowledge and understanding of test rig/machine programming, particularly in LabVIEW.

7. Collaborate with the Project Engineering team to develop procedures for Development, Certification, and Production Acceptance Testing.

8. Utilize modern manufacturing methodologies such as value stream mapping, continuous improvement, 5S, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, and total productive maintenance to enhance machinery process capabilities.

9. Create and update assembly procedures and standard work instructions to support manufacturing operations.

  • Provide technical assistance to Engineering, Quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve production issues with minimal disruption.

11. Identify cost-effective manufacturing methods to reduce expenses through investments in capital equipment and process development, both internally and with suppliers.

12. Enhance manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, spatial requirements, and equipment layout.

13. Develop manufacturing processes by examining product specifications; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; and consulting with equipment vendors.

14. Supply manufacturing decision-making data via Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; and estimating future needs.

15. Maintain equipment functionality by coordinating maintenance and repair services, adhering to manufacturer instructions and established protocols, and requesting specialized services as needed.

16. Establish standard costings and conduct work measurement to determine process times.

17. Utilize the company’s business system to develop and manage product routings for both new and existing components.

18. Engage in New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives to promote Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles, agree on manufacturing methods for hardware, and develop innovative manufacturing techniques for new product designs as required.

19. Generate CAM CNC programs from 3D models for processing on 3, 4, and 5-axis machines, including the provision for all jigs, fixtures, and tooling requirements, managing through prove-out and First Article Inspection to full-scale production.

20. Proficiency in using SolidWorks CAD for modeling and drafting is desirable.
