We are in search of a Project Engineer who is ready to tackle challenges and collaborate with our skilled Design and Technical teams to ensure that projects meet all technical specifications while being delivered on time and within budget.

Your role will be vital in providing state-of-the-art protection systems for Military and Law Enforcement agencies, including personal protective gear such as body armour plates, ballistic shields, helmets, and bomb disposal suits, as well as vehicle platform protection against ballistic and blast threats.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support to Development, Design, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Sales teams.
  • Develop specifications and testing programs, analyze test data, and create reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define and implement product development plans, statements of work, and program budgets.
  • Assist in design reviews to ensure verification and validation processes are documented.
  • Resolve design and product issues throughout the development and service lifecycle.
  • Support manufacturing processes by providing schematics, CNC programming, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Assist in verification and validation activities, including trials funded by internal and external customers.
  • Contribute to design definition, including material selection and quality assurance processes.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

  • Successful launch of new products within budget and on schedule.
  • Conduct verification and validation activities to confirm compliance with technical specifications.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert for NP Aerospace armour product lines, assisting both new and existing clients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Honours degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in design and development projects from inception to launch in a technical environment.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings and design standards, preferably in automotive or defence sectors.
  • Understanding of configuration control and change management.
  • Effective communication skills for technical discussions with peers, management, and clients.
  • Experience in compiling FMEAs, DVP&Rs, SRDs, and SoWs.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

Desirable

  • Experience in 3D CAD modeling and detailed design.
  • Familiarity with PTC Creo and Windchill PDM.
  • Experience with composite materials.
  • Knowledge of ballistic test specifications.
  • Manufacturing experience in compression and autoclave molding, machining, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Experience in managing project costs and timelines.
  • Familiarity with tooling design and design for manufacturability.
