About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Midwife to join our team as a Labour Ward Coordinator. This is a senior midwifery role within the organisation, and we are looking for someone who can provide clinical leadership and management to our midwifery team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership to midwifery and non-midwifery staff, ensuring effective management of the daily activity and flow within the maternity service.
  • Be visible within the unit for staff and have a helicopter view of the unit to ensure all areas are sufficiently covered to provide a high standard of care to women and birthing people.
  • Liaise with the rota coordinator to ensure the unit complies with safe staffing requirements.
  • Ensure rotas are maintained and accurately reflect the availability of staff.
  • Provide expert clinical leadership and role modelling, inspiring, motivating and empowering others.
  • Participate in the clinical and professional leadership of the department.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with extensive band 6 experience.
  • Degree in a related field.
  • Recent evidence of clinical or professional development.
  • Mentorship course or equivalent teaching experience.
  • Experience of working as a senior band 6 midwife role.
  • Practice development or management of projects or initiatives.
  • Experience with managing patient relevant to specialist area.
  • Experience in people management and improving the patient experience.
  • Mentoring experience.
  • Decision making ability.
  • Experience of change management/implementation of practice change.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering and co-ordinating projects in complex and challenging environments.
  • Knowledge of the Better Births Five Year Forward View for Maternity Services.
  • Understanding of statutory regulation of midwifery practice.
