Role Overview

As a Lead Mechanical Engineering Project Specialist, you will be instrumental in driving enhancements in capital expenditure processes and plant improvement initiatives at our Colors Shotton facility. Reporting directly to the Projects Manager, you will oversee the Drawing Office Team and the Project Support Team. Your role will encompass the entire project lifecycle, from initial concept through to final execution and operation, ensuring compliance with Tata Engineering Standards, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines, as well as relevant Codes of Practice.

The Lead Mechanical Engineering Project Specialist will guide a team of project engineers, design draughtsmen, and contractors, emphasizing safe working practices while delivering engineering and technological support to plant engineers and manufacturing teams. You will also be responsible for staying current with advancements in engineering equipment and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, the Lead Mechanical Engineering Project Specialist should possess a degree in a relevant field and have substantial experience within the steel or construction sectors. Experience in planning and executing capital projects, as well as managing external contractors, is highly desirable. Strong budget management skills and a thorough understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental Management are essential.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with robust problem-solving capabilities, are critical. You should be adept at working effectively across all organizational levels and have a solid grasp of risk management and construction regulations.
