Role Overview

As a Lead Mechanical Engineering Project Specialist, you will be instrumental in enhancing capital expenditure processes and driving plant improvement initiatives at our Colors Shotton facility. Reporting directly to the Projects Manager, you will oversee the Drawing Office Team and the Project Support Team. Your role will encompass everything from project conception to execution, ensuring compliance with Tata Engineering Standards, Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines, as well as relevant Codes of Practice.

In this position, you will lead a team of project engineers, design draughtsmen, and contractors, emphasizing safe working practices while providing engineering and technological support to plant engineers and manufacturing teams. You will also be responsible for staying current with developments in engineering equipment and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, the Lead Mechanical Engineering Project Specialist should possess a degree in a relevant field and have substantial experience in the steel or construction sectors. Experience in planning and executing capital projects, along with managing external contractors, is highly desirable. Strong budget management skills and a comprehensive understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental Management are essential.

Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong problem-solving capabilities, are crucial. You should be adept at working effectively across all organizational levels and have a solid grasp of risk management and construction regulations.
