Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary to join our team at Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT), based in the Colchester area.

This challenging position requires someone who is a team player, flexible, organized, and able to work well under pressure. The post holder will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultant and clinical team.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide efficient, high-quality secretarial, administrative, and support services to the Consultant and their medical colleagues.
  • Produce documents such as clinic letters, discharge summaries, and general correspondence.
  • Process case-notes of patients discharged from clinical caseloads and follow through ongoing care plans.
  • Ensure that follow-up appointments or referrals to other specialties are arranged where necessary.
  • Manage and prioritize own workload appropriately, frequently under pressure, without supervision.
  • React quickly to urgent situations to coordinate an excellent service to patients, their carers, health professionals, and other professional bodies.
Requirements
  • Good general education with maths and English to GCSE standard or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 business administration and/or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience of working in an administrative/secretarial environment.
  • Previous experience working in the NHS is desirable.
  • Previous experience/evidence of using clinical systems is desirable.
