About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Physics Engineer to join our team at Ridge & Partners LLP. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of our key work streams, including building regulations compliance modelling, thermal comfort analysis, and operational energy analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance and support in the development of our key work streams, including:

    • Building regulations compliance modelling (Part L/EPC)

    • Thermal comfort analysis (CIBSE Guide A, TM52 and TM59)

    • CIBSE TM54 Operational Energy analysis

    • NABERS simulations

    • Passive design and low-zero carbon technology studies

    • Supporting Net-zero operational energy studies for new and retrofit projects

    • Input into supporting planning documents, such as energy strategies

    • Advising clients and architects on energy use and conservation in a range of buildings and sites, aiming to minimize the environmental impact and reduce the carbon footprint

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Batchelors or Masters degree in Engineering, architecture or sustainability

  • Relevant practical experience in a similar role, with demonstrable knowledge and experience of building physics, particularly in relation to heat transfer, energy, comfort criteria, CIBSE Guidance and other industry standards

  • Good knowledge of dynamic simulation software, particularly IES VE, and the UK Building Regulations, including a good understanding of the National Calculation Methodology

  • An accredited user of IESve (for SBEM and DSM), CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant and Low Carbon Energy Assessor level 5

  • Some understanding of mechanical design would be beneficial

  • Effective communication skills and some experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges
