Senior Governance and Compliance Director

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Governance and Compliance Manager to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing our compliance with legal and regulatory obligations and providing professional governance services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deputise for the Head of Governance and Compliance when required.
  • Support the provision of robust corporate governance, compliance, and legal assurance services.
  • Ensure compliance with our legal obligations around Companies House and FCA reporting.
  • Line manage the Company Secretarial Assistant, including training and development.
  • Offer governance and compliance advice to the board, executive, and colleagues.
  • Service the Audit & Risk Committee and manage the internal audit programme.
  • Service other Board Committees, including the Treasury Committee, Evolution (SPV), and the organization's Foundation.
  • Maintain strategic and operational risk registers and draft reports for the ARC and Board.
  • Draft, review, and update corporate and governance policies and procedures.
  • Oversee compliance with legal and regulatory obligations and ensure compliance reporting deadlines are met.

Requirements:

  • Degree-level education and Chartered Institute of Governance or legal qualification.
  • Substantial experience in governance and compliance within a large, regulated sector organization, preferably social housing.
  • Proven track record of servicing Board or Committee meetings and taking accurate minutes.
  • Excellent IT skills, proficient with standard office IT packages and electronic portals.
  • Strong management and leadership capabilities.
  • Commitment to delivering service to a very high standard.
