Role Responsibilities

As the Deputy Director of Corporate Governance, you will report directly to the Executive Director of Corporate Services. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the Strategy and Performance, Private Office, Data Protection, and Internal Audit and Assurance functions.
  • Establishing and upholding high standards of governance, risk management, and data protection across the Agency, ensuring compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and governmental standards.
  • Serving as the principal advisor to the Chief Executive, Chair, and Executive Director of Corporate Services on corporate governance, legal matters, and statutory compliance.
  • Playing a pivotal role in shaping the MCA’s medium- and long-term strategic direction and overseeing the management of organizational performance to ensure successful outcomes.

Key Duties Include:

  • Actively participating as a regular member of the MCA's Executive Committee, contributing to agenda development and providing necessary advice.
  • Delivering effective and motivational leadership within your functional areas, fostering a culture of high performance, excellence, and continuous improvement through effective performance management and colleague engagement.
  • Advising the Chief Executive and Executive Committee on regulatory and legal risks, enhancing decision-making and operational delivery.
  • Leading the Agency’s risk management strategy in accordance with governmental guidelines, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Providing strategic counsel on corporate and operational matters, ensuring adherence to legal and governmental standards.
  • Collaborating with the Executive Director of Corporate Services to shape the Agency's strategic vision.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, you should be a credible and authentic leader capable of articulating a clear vision and engaging stakeholders to achieve results. You will have:

  • Experience in developing strategies and operational plans, with a solid understanding of corporate and strategic issues.
  • Confidence in providing sound advice on legal and compliance matters, including data protection, while adhering to public sector guidelines.
  • A background in working with senior officials, including drafting correspondence for senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with a proven ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A track record of delivering clear, balanced advice and professional leadership at a senior management level, inspiring confidence and facilitating effective decision-making.

Additional Information

This position is based at the MCA's headquarters. The Agency supports flexible working arrangements and operates a hybrid model, allowing for a balance between remote and office work.

Occasional travel may be required for meetings and events, with prior notice provided.
