We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Product Specifications Specialist to join a dynamic and growing Food Manufacturing organization.

This is a full-time, permanent role.


As a Product Specifications Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate all specifications for both branded and private label products, ensuring compliance with all labeling regulations while adhering to launch timelines and critical deadlines.

You will play a key role in assessing raw material content to create exemplary specifications that enhance compliance.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Process & Specifications Manager to oversee products from the New Product Development (NPD) handover to launch.

This will involve:
I. Participating in internal handover meetings;
II. Working closely with the Food Safety & Due Diligence Manager to support raw material specification approvals.
III. Creating and finalizing customer specifications on online platforms.
IV. Assisting the Process & Specification Manager in reviewing artwork.
V. Supporting the Process & Specification Manager to ensure all customer specifications are activated prior to launch.

  • Developing raw material specifications for products sold and purchased under the company’s brand.
  • Creating finished product specifications for non-retailer branded items.

Requirements, Experience, and Candidate Profile:

  • Experience in technical administration/specifications within the food industry, with a solid understanding of writing retailer specifications.
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and excellent communication skills are essential for liaising with teams to ensure timely and high-quality completion of work. A candidate who is analytical and adept at problem-solving will excel in this role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and the ability to influence across various departments to foster relationships.
  • Ideally, a degree or NHD in food science, food technology, or nutrition.
  • Experience with products such as chilled prepared foods, ready meals, or food-to-go items would be advantageous.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and colleagues in a multicultural environment.
  • Good numerical, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Capacity to work efficiently and methodically while maintaining a high level of concentration.
  • Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate initiative when necessary.
  • Quick learner with a mechanical aptitude.
  • Flexible and positive attitude towards work.

The working hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.

The salary for this role ranges from £28,000 to £32,000, depending on experience.
