At Brent Council-Housing, you will be instrumental in overseeing substantial contracts related to significant projects, refurbishments, repairs, and compliance.
Your Role
As a Cost Management Specialist, you will be pivotal in supporting contract oversight by ensuring precise budget management and processing for contractor repairs and project requests.
Your commercial acumen will be essential in the formulation and negotiation of contracts with contractors, suppliers, internal departments, and consultants.
You will also establish performance and monitoring systems for budget forecasting, variance reporting, volume performance, and KPIs, delivering regular analyses and reports on economic efficiency.
Building and nurturing effective business relationships with providers, partners, and stakeholders is crucial in this position. You will assist in preparing the Housing Asset Management Strategy, investment options, cost modeling, and work programs.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will possess a degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience, with chartered status and full membership of RICS, RIBA, CIOB, or CIBSE being highly desirable.
You should have extensive experience in developing effective contract specifications and procurement documents, alongside a comprehensive understanding of procurement legislation, social housing maintenance, and refurbishment contracts.
Strong budget management experience is essential, as is proven experience collaborating with contractors and consultants in a service delivery environment.
A solid understanding of the financial and technical aspects of contracts, contract procurement, and accounting is necessary. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are required to build and maintain effective business relationships.
You will be a team player, a dynamic, committed individual with the resilience and drive to handle the demands and pressures of the role, including the ability to manage effectively during times of crisis.
