What is the opportunity?

To contribute to the profitable trading and revenue generation of the Funding and Liquidity business globally through the management of credit risks, liquidity position management, enhancement of desk analytics, and providing assistance to team members globally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage the Asset Management Portfolio responsible for leading trading activity in GBP, EUR and supporting USD activity during London trading hours leveraging thorough issuer and market analysis.
  • Lead discussions on credit markets and coordinate desk strategy regarding credit risk management.
  • Manage the firm's stated ESG objectives in relation to the HQLA investment portfolio.
  • Identify and execute profitable trade opportunities across global trading books and core portfolio currencies (USD, EUR, GBP).
  • Engage and build relationships with brokers, coverage and traders at other banks to ensure the right level of information flow into the desk.
  • Build relationships with issuers to maximize franchise value-add from primary market engagement.
  • Ensure trades are in compliance with all limits and policies.
  • Develop innovative solutions to asset and liability management problems encountered by the Trading Services team.
  • Work closely with Funding and Liquidity desk heads globally to efficiently implement business initiatives and strategies.
  • Monitor and regularly report risk and risk assessments to senior management.
  • Identify and help eliminate operational inefficiencies within the business.
  • Contribute to discussions on trade idea generation in EUR, GBP and USD HQLA credit trading alongside execution of strategies agreed upon.
  • Deliver excellence in client service, protect and enhance the Royal Bank of Canada brand and maximize Funding and Liquidity financial performance against the available opportunity sets.
  • Ensure a prompt and high level of service and delivery to all internal and external stakeholders on requests for information.
  • Stay up to date on regulatory and compliance issues.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in financial markets, with credit trading experience.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to think strategically to analyze client and market trends to identify strategic opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of Bloomberg, MS Office, with advanced-level Excel skills; coding experience preferred but not required.
