KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership and Management Duties: Assist in the continuous organization of the unit, taking responsibility for a specific area of practice within the department on a daily basis. Ensure optimal utilization of theatre resources at all times, facilitating timely patient admissions and discharges. Act as a deputy in the absence of the band 7 Lead Practitioner. Oversee and evaluate the performance of junior staff within Theatres, and contribute to their professional development, ensuring a suitable skill mix and adherence to established care standards.

Participate in disciplinary, grievance, and absence management procedures as necessary. Actively engage in risk management and health & safety processes, adhering to relevant policies to promote safety and ensuring that incidents are documented appropriately. Assist in identifying strategies to prevent errors and accidents affecting both patients and staff.

Staff Allocation: Involved in the allocation of personnel within the designated area of responsibility, producing staff schedules as required. Participate in the on-call rota.

Patient Care Delivery: Support clinicians during anaesthetic and surgical procedures. Coordinate and delegate tasks effectively. Manage the theatre list throughout the duration of shifts. Ensure clear communication with clinicians and other staff across Theatres, wards, and departments.

Assess and plan patient care within a professional framework, evaluating the care provided. Maintain a safe environment within the department for both patients and staff. For further details regarding responsibilities, please refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification.
