Position Overview
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a skilled social care practitioner to become a vital member of our dynamic and forward-thinking Adult Social Care Community team. Our organization promotes a flexible working environment that combines both remote and in-office responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of two years of post-qualification experience and hold or be willing to pursue an Approved Mental Health Professional, Best Interest Assessor, or Practice Educator qualification.
Your role will involve advocating for adults with intricate needs and their caregivers, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to create tailored support and services that align with individual requirements, employing a strengths-based methodology.
The service primarily caters to the residents of Staffordshire, focusing on individuals aged 18 and above with physical disabilities, as well as older adults over 65 who may have physical and/or mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be a registered social worker and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and other relevant legal frameworks. Our organization is dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing the welfare of vulnerable individuals and expects all team members to uphold this commitment.
We provide informal guidance and support as needed, manageable caseloads, regular formal supervision, and access to the Social Work Learning Academy, which fosters ongoing professional growth and development. You will receive direct support from the Practice Lead and your colleagues, while also offering peer support within your team.

As part of the Social Work Learning Academy (SWLA), the successful candidate will be automatically enrolled and aligned with the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA stage will be determined based on prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience. The candidate will be responsible for their own ongoing professional development.
Qualifications & Training
Essential
- Professional Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA, or equivalent recognized by the Professional Social Work regulatory body)
- Current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body
- Commitment to achieving Approved Mental Health Professional and/or Best Interest Assessor status as per the SWLA Career Pathway
- Willingness to undertake and achieve Work Based Supervisor and Practice Educator status as per the SWLA Career Pathway
- Proficient IT skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and presentation software
- A commitment to personal and professional growth
- A strong understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices
Desirable
- Existing accreditation in Practice Educator/Work Based Supervisor roles
Experience
Essential
- Significant post-qualification experience working with adults facing challenges related to aging, physical health, or mental health, as well as their caregivers

- Experience in social work across various user groups/settings, including Children and Families, Learning Disabilities, and Older Adults, as well as experience in service development roles
