Position Overview

We are excited to announce a vacancy within our Audiology division at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. We seek a compassionate, driven, and enthusiastic audiologist to become a vital part of our supportive team on a full-time basis.

The ideal candidate will serve as a Band 5 audiologist, contributing to exceptional patient-focused evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and follow-up consultations. You will also engage in the innovation of new practices to further enhance the high-quality service we provide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct diagnostic audiological assessments for both adults and children independently, recommending suitable care strategies.
  • Analyze and interpret a wide range of diagnostic and rehabilitative test outcomes for adult patients, and some pediatric cases.
  • Manage a caseload of rehabilitative patients, utilizing care plans based on direct referrals when appropriate.
  • Perform tinnitus assessments and provide counseling for routine adult patients.
  • Refer patients for specialized audiological evaluations and/or to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Select appropriate hearing aid prescriptions and systems tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Ensure optimal functionality of hearing aid systems to meet specific patient requirements.
  • Work independently for extended periods at various clinics.
  • Conduct ward and home visits as needed.
  • Participate in specialized clinical practices under the guidance of senior audiology staff, following in-house training and/or specialized courses.
  • Mentor and support junior audiology staff, apprentices, and university students.
  • Implement educational programs to facilitate audiologist training as directed by senior staff.
  • Assist senior audiology staff with the daily management of departmental operations.
  • Help organize the department's workload effectively.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in adult audiology assessments.
  • Proficiency in fitting routine hearing aids for adults.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working in an NHS audiology department at Band 5 level.
  • Experience in assessing children aged three years and older.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to effectively counsel patients with tinnitus.
