About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate nurse to make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist advice and support on complex pain and symptom management for patients with life-limiting conditions and their loved ones.
  • Assess, plan, and evaluate individual management plans to ensure high-quality care.
  • Work autonomously, demonstrating expertise and initiative in complex situations involving multiple teams.
  • Communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and their families, conveying prognosis and future care options.
  • Develop and deliver education and training programs for the wider team, promoting best practice in palliative care.
  • Lead and participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of clinical services, utilizing advanced clinical skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • RGN and current NMC registration.
  • First degree or working towards.
  • Relevant accredited post-registration education at level 3.
  • Qualification in Teaching and Assessing.
  • Evidence of masters-level academic study or willingness to work towards a relevant health-related subject.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Management qualification.
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification.
  • Current specialty experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of advanced practice/protocols.
