Position Overview

Our organization is experiencing substantial growth and is seeking dedicated nursing professionals to join our team in delivering specialized guidance for adults with palliative care requirements. This encompasses individuals with both malignant and non-malignant conditions.

The successful candidate will leverage their clinical proficiency, leadership capabilities, educational background, and management skills to ensure a cohesive service for patients, their families, and fellow healthcare providers. This role necessitates close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in both hospital and community settings to guarantee a coordinated and high-quality service.

Although primarily based at our main site, the candidate may occasionally be required to work across various locations within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Offer expert advice and support on intricate pain and symptom management for patients facing life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones, as well as for colleagues both within and outside the organization.

- Take charge of the assessment, planning, and evaluation of specialized, individualized management strategies.

- Operate independently, showcasing advanced expertise and initiative in complex scenarios involving multiple teams.

- Collaborate closely with patients and their families to communicate complex and sensitive information regarding prognosis and future care alternatives.

- Provide specialized education and training to the broader team responsible for delivering core-level palliative care.

- Lead and engage in the planning, development, and assessment of clinical services utilizing advanced clinical skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
  • First degree or in progress
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field
  • Relevant accredited post-registration education at level 3
  • Qualification in Teaching and Assessing
  • Evidence of master's level academic study or a willingness to pursue a Master's in a relevant health-related subject

Desirable

  • Management qualification
  • Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of nursing theory and best practices, particularly within the specialty or related areas
  • Relevant clinical experience
  • Evidence of recent teaching experience
  • Experience in research or audit projects
  • Awareness of national and local specialty-specific issues
  • Ability to work autonomously

  • Current specialty experience
  • Knowledge and experience of advanced practice/protocols
