About the RoleThe Patient Safety Manager will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to our patient safety activities, developing and maintaining proactive and effective working relationships with stakeholders, and providing support and guidance to healthcare professionals and staff in all aspects of patient safety.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Trust's patient safety activities.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain proactive and effective working relationships with stakeholders, including Non-Executive Directors, Executive Directors, Commissioners, and staff at all levels within the Trust.
- Support and Guidance: Provide visible and accessible support and guidance to healthcare professionals and staff in all aspects of patient safety.
- Incident Management: Oversee the Trust's Serious Incidents requiring investigation process, ensuring a coordinated, systematic, transparent, and focused approach.
- Learning from Mortality: Manage the Learning from Mortality process, ensuring the Trust learns from every incident.
- Duty of Candour: Lead the Duty of Candour process, promoting transparency and honesty in patient care.
- Confidential Inquiries: Oversee the National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide and external reviews, including Domestic Homicide Reviews.
- Team Management: Manage the staff within the Patient Safety function, fostering a supportive and effective team environment.
We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in healthcare management and patient safety, who can bring innovative ideas and proven strategies to the role. The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of working with service users, carers, stakeholders, and members of the public.
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders, including ICB, to deliver a shared agenda.
- Ability to provide complex and detailed reports to internal and external parties, including ICB and committees of the Board.
- Experience of managing staff, including undertaking supervision and appraisals.
