Role Overview

Essex County Council (ECC) is on the lookout for dedicated professionals to become part of our SEND Operations Team, with opportunities available across various locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Education Health Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process for children and young individuals with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Coordinate school placement requests for children relocating to Essex with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
  • Ensure compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
  • Act as the local authority representative in dispute resolution meetings concerning EHC needs assessments.
  • Maintain and review existing EHCPs to ensure adherence to statutory processes.
  • Serve as a primary contact for families and partners during the EHCNA, providing essential guidance and support.
  • Gather and interpret necessary statutory advice, ensuring the production of high-quality EHCPs.
  • Organize and lead Statutory Annual Review Meetings for home-educated children, ensuring comprehensive participation from all relevant parties.
  • Accurately record data to facilitate reporting on statutory timelines and pupil records.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education of RQF level 3 (A level) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated professional development and expertise in the relevant field.
  • Experience working with young individuals with special educational needs and their families.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with diverse audiences.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to chair meetings and collaborate with professionals across education, health, and social care.
