At Sonovision UK - Ortec Group, our engineering divisions collaborate with leading global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver specialized design and manufacturing solutions. We leverage our knowledge and creativity throughout the entire tooling lifecycle, from initial needs assessment and concept development to critical design phases and mass production.

We are currently enhancing our service offerings to encompass extensive site-specific initiatives and are seeking a Tooling Program Coordinator to spearhead and advance these efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Tooling Program Coordinator will undertake the following responsibilities across various aligned initiatives:

Project Management

  • Maintain an onsite presence at client locations to foster engagement and accelerate program execution.
  • Develop and uphold processes and methodologies, including but not limited to Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Monitor performance metrics.
  • Oversee tooling Profit and Loss (P&L) management.
  • Set and track budgets effectively.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate scheduling at a programmatic level, integrating inputs from design and manufacturing teams.
  • Manage commercial and technical aspects of Requests for Quotations (RFQ) and Calls for Tenders (CFT) in response to client inquiries.
  • Implement strategic innovations for both design and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage resources and workload for the entire project team.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary actions for the entire program.
  • Ensure the performance of the tooling program team through performance reviews, skills management, training, and mentoring.
  • Motivate team members to achieve their best.

Manufacturing Oversight

  • Directly supervise the Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Oversee approved suppliers and evaluate their performance.
  • Strategically develop the manufacturing supply chain.
  • Drive innovation in manufacturing through the adoption of new methods and processes.

Design Management

  • Directly supervise Design Engineer(s).
  • Oversee the design process, tools, and infrastructure.

Stakeholder Liaison

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders across various business levels in commercial, procurement, design, and manufacturing domains.
  • Maintain an onsite presence at client locations and serve as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for contracts.

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

  • Prepare risk assessments for all onsite activities involving company personnel.
  • Maintain HSE plans and policies.
  • Conduct internal training on HSE aspects for all relevant personnel.

Quality Assurance and Performance

  • Collaborate with and support the transnational quality function.
  • Assist in onsite and offsite validation exercises.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in managing large-scale programs, encompassing commercial, financial, resource, and technical elements.
  • A minimum of a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in the aeronautical/aerospace sector.
  • Familiarity with design and manufacturing principles, technologies, and supply chains.
  • Experience with tooling equipment (both design and manufacturing) is a distinct advantage.

Please note that this position is only available to individuals who have the right to work in the UK without sponsorship and have resided in the UK for the last five years continuously. All employees must undergo pre-employment screening and meet the clearance criteria for UK Security Vetting to SC Level.
