Job Description

Sonovision UK - Ortec Group's engineering teams collaborate with leading global Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to provide specialized design and manufacturing services. Our teams apply their expertise and innovation to the entire tool life-cycle, from needs analysis and conception to critical design stages and serial manufacture.

We are expanding our service portfolio to include large-scale site-specific programs and are seeking a Tooling Project Manager to implement and drive the program.

Key Responsibilities

The Tooling Project Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and be responsible for the following:

  • Project Management
    • Onsite presence at customer sites, driving engagement and expediting program delivery
    • Development and maintenance of processes and methodologies, including Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
    • Performance monitoring and responsibility for tooling Profit and Loss (P&L)
    • Budget setting and monitoring
    • Weekly and monthly reporting to internal and external stakeholders
    • Scheduling at a programmatic level, coordinating inputs from Design and Manufacture functions
    • Commercial and technical responsibility for Request for Quotations (RFQ) and Call for Tenders (CFT) in response to customer requests
    • Strategic implementation of innovation for both Design and Manufacturing streams
    • Resourcing and load management for the entire project team
    • Risk management for the entire program, including assessment and actions
    • Responsibility for the performance of the tooling program team, including Performance Reviews, Skills Management, training, and mentoring
    • Team motivation

Manufacturing

The Tooling Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Manufacturing Oversight
    • Direct responsibility for Manufacturing Engineers
    • Oversight and responsibility for approved suppliers and their performance
    • Strategic responsibility for developing the manufacturing Supply Chain
    • Driving manufacturing innovation through the implementation of new methods and processes

Design

The Tooling Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Design Oversight
    • Direct responsibility for Design Engineers
    • Oversight and responsibility for the design process, tools, and infrastructure

Liaison

The Tooling Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Liaison and Communication
    • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of business in commercial, procurement, design, and manufacture domains
    • Onsite presence at customer sites and primary Point of Contact (POC) for contracts

Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)

The Tooling Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • HSE Management
    • Preparation of Risk Reviews for all onsite activity for company personnel
    • Maintenance of HSE plans and Policy
    • Internal training of HSE aspects to all relevant company personnel

Quality and Performance

The Tooling Project Manager will be responsible for:

  • Quality and Performance Management
    • Interface with and support transnational quality function
    • Support onsite and offsite validation exercises

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in project management of large programs, including commercial, financial, resources, and technical aspects
  • Minimum of degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Demonstrable experience in the aeronautical/aerospace domain
  • Working knowledge of design and manufacturing principles, technologies, and supply chains
  • Experience working with Tooling equipment (both design and manufacture) is a distinct advantage
