JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is seeking skilled Marine Control Room Operators to join our team on a permanent basis.

The Marine Operations Control Specialist will report directly to the Operations Manager and will play a crucial role in overseeing all marine functions related to the Floating Storage Unit (FSU) operations. This position is responsible for monitoring, managing, and executing marine and cargo operations effectively, ensuring adherence to established protocols. A strong emphasis on safety and proactive measures is essential.

This role encompasses daily marine operations to guarantee safe and efficient functioning while complying with industry standards and safety regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee, monitor, receive, store, and discharge crude oil cargo and slops, including Crude Oil Washing (COW), managing inert gas systems, maintaining FSU stability, and ensuring safety and control systems are in compliance with all operational procedures and relevant standards.
  • Manage and ensure the quality of cargo.
  • Operate ballast systems, including ballast valves and pumps, and conduct routine and emergency ballasting/de-ballasting operations.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the unit's stability manual, focusing on stability and recovery methods from damage conditions.
  • Act as the primary contact for marine activities during night shifts, providing assistance to vendors as needed.
  • Operate various marine systems throughout the FSU, including variable frequency drive cargo systems, bilge and ballast systems, potable water, and sewage systems.
  • Complete and document marine planned maintenance activities, updating the Maintenance Management System (SAP).
  • Ensure the safe and cost-effective operation and maintenance of the Facility's marine systems, minimizing environmental impact in accordance with legislation, class, flag, and the integrated facility management system.
  • Participate in all aspects of cargo oil offtake operations, including cargo transfer, metering, mooring/unmooring coordination, and documentation.
  • Ensure accurate completion of Marine Department data and reports, including marine logs, vessel movements, weather reports, hull tank contents, oil content record books, and garbage record books.
  • Monitor pigging operations between the platform and FSU.
  • Operate the vessel's oily water separator.
  • Be actively involved in logistical tasks onboard, including cargo tanker operations, supply vessel operations, and handling of dangerous goods.
  • Manage vessel stability through effective ballasting and cargo loading.
  • Execute assurance activities related to the Written Scheme of Examination and Class certification.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records within the Maintenance Management System (SAP).
  • Ensure compliance with reporting and record-keeping requirements.
  • Promote and embody Wood's safety culture, behaviors, and values.
  • Encourage a high level of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) awareness and proactivity.
  • Adhere to all Company management standards and procedures, supporting safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Conduct appropriate Risk Assessments for all activities, with a focus on recognizing the impact of changes.
  • Ensure that all operational procedures are correctly applied and adequately monitored.
  • Perform emergency response duties as required.
  • Carry out first-line maintenance on various marine systems.
  • Monitor bilge and void spaces, de-watering as necessary.
  • Supervise the mooring system, taking appropriate actions as directed.
  • Monitor aeronautical communications.
  • Ensure the weather monitoring station is operational, including helicopter weather reports.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Participate in audits, technical assessments, and incident investigations as required.
QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:
  • Relevant maritime qualifications, HNC, NVQ, or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experience:
  • Experience in control room operations (preferably marine).
  • Practical knowledge of systems, plant, and equipment relevant to the marine industry.
  • Proven technician experience in an offshore environment.
  • Strong understanding of marine engine systems.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP preferred).
Role-Specific Skills:
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical scenarios.
  • Demonstrated teamwork capabilities.
