Job Description

Job Title: Transport Supervisor

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Transport Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of transportation operations, adhering to regulatory requirements, and maintaining high customer service standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Transportation Planning: Ensure that all deliveries are executed in line with the plan provided by the Regional Planning Centre.
  2. Day and Night Plan Execution: Control and execute the Day and Night Plan, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently.
  3. Driver Briefings and Debriefings: Pre-brief all drivers to ensure they understand the day's work and requirements, and de-brief them to ensure all tasks are completed and any issues are addressed.
  4. Issue Resolution: Deal with issues as they arise, resolving them promptly and amending the plan as necessary to maintain acceptable customer service levels.
  5. Vehicle Earnings Management: Minimise/Maximise impact on vehicle earnings to ensure budgeted vehicle earnings are met.
  6. Weekend Work: Be available to work weekends as required to cover holidays with either shift swap or overtime.
  7. Handovers: Complete face-to-face handovers each side of your shift.
  8. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate issues as they arise to relevant stakeholders.
  9. Transport Compliance: Adhere to and control Transport related Compliance.
  10. TMS System Management: Maintain TMS system compliance.
  11. Investigations and Return to Work Interviews: Conduct investigations and return to work interviews as required.
  12. TMS Load Creation and Allocation: Create and allocate TMS loads.
  13. Agency and Sub-Contractor Management: Source local agency drivers and sub-contractors as and when required.
  14. KPI Reporting: Coordinate and build key KPI reports for customers.
  15. Trailer Checks: Ensure accurate trailer checks are completed and sent.
  16. Site Awareness: Ensure that site teams are aware that the loads meet safety standards.
  17. Transport Office Duties: Perform all other transport office related duties, including POD control and scanning.
Requirements:
  1. 'Right To Work' in the UK: The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK.
  2. Transport Experience: Experience of working in a busy Transport office is essential.
  3. Legislative Knowledge: Knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph and WTD legislation is required.
  4. Continuous Improvement: Knowledge of Continuous Improvement is essential.
  5. Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills are required.
  6. Education: A good standard of education is necessary.
  7. IT Literacy: IT literacy is essential.
  8. Health and Safety: Knowledge of Health & Safety is required.
  9. Commercial Understanding: Commercial understanding is essential.
  10. Transport Systems: Knowledge of transport systems is required.
