At Turning Point, we provide support to individuals with Learning Disabilities throughout England.

As a Care Support Specialist, you will significantly impact the lives of those you assist by enhancing their daily living skills. With a strong passion for people, you will have the opportunity and support to improve your own life and career as you gain the experience and training necessary for advancement.

Work Environment

Your role will be based in one of our Supported Living facilities.

We strive to foster positive relationships, creating a supportive environment. Our focus is on delivering person-centered support, which includes various activities such as shopping, budget management, and cooking. We customize our services to promote independence.

Utilizing a digital social care record system, you will streamline daily documentation, allowing you to dedicate more time to the individuals we support.

Shift Requirements

This is a 24-hour service, so flexibility is crucial. You will be required to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

What will your role entail?

This is a hands-on position where no two days are alike. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting adults with learning disabilities, autism, communication challenges, and complex behaviors
  • Providing support with a person-centered approach
  • Assisting individuals with personal care needs
  • Facilitating a variety of daily activities at home and in the community
  • Encouraging individuals to maintain independence and control over their lives
  • Investing time to understand the most effective ways to deliver positive support and enhance quality of life
  • Delivering outcome-focused support to improve skills, develop interests, and increase independence
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation to enable effective review and development of support plans
Ideal Candidate Profile

What qualities and skills are essential?

The right candidate will possess a positive attitude and relevant experience in helping individuals manage anxiety. Familiarity with learning disabilities and complex needs is advantageous. Essential qualities include:

  • Passion, care, and enthusiasm
  • Flexibility, patience, and a non-judgmental approach
  • A strong team player with high energy
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the role, such as manual handling

While having a driving license is preferred, it is not mandatory.

Training and Development Opportunities

We are committed to offering training to enhance skills and competencies, not only in the care sector but in various other areas as well.

  • Level 2 and 3 Lead Adult Care Worker
  • Level 3 Operational Team Leader

Please note that training will commence after the completion of a six-month probation period. Once training begins, you will be assigned a coach to guide you through your program.
