Compensation: £18,000 per annum

Work Arrangement: Hybrid, averaging 6-8 days per month

We are excited to announce a pivotal opportunity for an Independent Chair to significantly influence the governance of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). This role is crucial for those with a proven track record in chairing professional bodies or similar organizations, particularly in applying the principles of effective governance.

The CIPR stands as the only Royal Chartered professional body dedicated to public relations practitioners, boasting a membership of 11,000 recognized professionals. Our mission is to uphold and enhance industry standards through various initiatives, including respected qualifications, professional development programs, training sessions, and industry awards. Additionally, we maintain accountability through our Code of Conduct and searchable PR registers.

As we embark on a transformative journey following a comprehensive governance review, your leadership will be vital in fostering diversity of thought at the board level. Your collaboration with our Chief Executive will be essential during this period of change.

The Board is responsible for providing robust leadership and direction, ensuring that the CIPR operates within legal frameworks while safeguarding its mission and vision. Board meetings are held at least six times a year, with a mix of virtual and in-person sessions.

To qualify for this significant role, candidates should possess extensive senior leadership and non-executive experience, with a strong preference for those who have chaired similar organizations and demonstrate a commitment to advancing equity, diversity, and inclusion.
