Health and Safety Professional

Optima Recruitment is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our client's busy small office in Epsom. As a member of the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (ISOH), you will have a NEBOSH diploma and prior experience in health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:- Promote H&S Best Practices: Encourage continual improvement and reporting/action of 'near miss' situations.
- RAM Statements: Write and implement RAM statements to ensure compliance.
- Regulatory Body Visits: Support visits by external regulatory bodies, such as the UK Health and Safety Executive, as required.
- Health and Safety Policy: Ensure the company's Health and Safety Policy and procedures are maintained consistently across all sites, including the warehouse.
- Training and Development: Develop and deliver training sessions to meet employee training needs.
- Safe Systems of Work: Support managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice and practical support as needed.
- Risk Assessments: Prepare and carry out risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Health and Safety Systems: Set up and support the maintenance of Health and Safety systems and procedures to meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting and COSHH.
- Audits and Compliance: Conduct audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures, and identify areas for improvement.
- Fire Safety: Coordinate fire safety processes to ensure legal compliance, including evacuation procedures and fire prevention training.
- DSE Requirements: Ensure compliance with DSE requirements.
- Accident Investigations: Assist with investigation of accidents and take necessary steps to prevent recurrence, including keeping written records of the investigation and action taken.
- Computer Literacy: Good user knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Health and Safety Legislation: Ability to interpret Health and Safety legislation and produce written policy.
- Training and Development: Ability to design and deliver training.
- Communication Skills: Excellent oral communication skills, including presentation and training experience.
