Health and Safety Advisor

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join our client's team in Epsom, Surrey.

This is an essential role ensuring the health and safety of all employees by developing and implementing safety management systems and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventative measures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation to maintain compliance.
  • Initiate and organise OHS training of employees and executives to enhance their knowledge and skills.
  • Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity and take corrective action.
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, and other activities to ensure they are conducted safely.
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle worker's compensation claims.
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management to inform decision-making.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor with a strong understanding of legislation and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices and the ability to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety and the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics to inform decision-making.
  • Proficient in MS Office and working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus.
  • Outstanding organisational skills with great attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics to employees and executives.
  • BSc/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred, along with relevant Health and Safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
