Medical Microbiologist and University Theme Lead

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Medical Microbiologist/Consultant in Infectious Diseases to lead our undergraduate teaching program at the University of East Anglia. As a key member of our department, you will work closely with our team to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the development of our teaching programs.
Main ResponsibilitiesThis is a replacement post with university teaching commitments replacing some of direct clinical care sessions. The appointed consultant will spend up to 4 PAs of their allocated activities performing teaching commitments at the University of East Anglia. The remaining programmed activities will be spent at the Department of Microbiology.
The post holder will participate in a single rota for out of hours cover across Norfolk, resulting in an anticipated frequency of 1 in 8 at full capacity.
It is expected that the appointee will be offered an honorary academic appointment with the University of East Anglia.

Full GMC Registration with license to practice is required at time of application. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical microbiology, infectious disease, and infection control, with experience in teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate level. They will also have a commitment to developing an appropriate specialist interest and be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and patients.
The successful candidate will be offered an honorary academic appointment with the University of East Anglia and will be expected to participate in a single rota for out of hours cover across Norfolk.
