Job Description

Job Title: Consultant Medical Microbiologist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Medical Microbiologist to join our team at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive microbiology service to our patients, including the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the provision of a comprehensive microbiology service for all users of the laboratory.
  • Give a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialties and to GPs and other healthcare professionals in Primary Care.
  • Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
  • Take part in the Royal College of Pathologists continuing medical education programme.

Requirements:

  • Training and experience equivalent to that required for FRCpath.
  • Teaching at undergraduate/postgraduate level.
  • Wide experience of clinical microbiology, infectious disease, and infection control.
  • Competent IT skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest.
