Senior Buyer / Commodity Manager

Your new company, a leading automotive manufacturing company in Preston, is seeking an experienced procurement expert to join their fast-paced team as they continue to succeed and dominate their market.

Your New Role

The Senior Buyer / Commodity Manager will play a pivotal role in managing procurement / sourcing activity in a high-value spend area, ensuring that optimal value for money is achieved and key stakeholder relationships are managed effectively, all the while ensuring that quality standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage procurement / sourcing activity in a high-value spend area
  • Build key commercial relationships with suppliers
  • Work with key internal stakeholders to ensure that Six Sigma projects are defined and implemented
  • Devise and implement appropriate commodity strategies for the short, medium and long-term
  • Lead on a number of cost-reduction projects across key areas of commodity expenditure
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Procurement experience gained within an automotive manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Confident at negotiation and influencing
  • Ideally, CIPS qualified or partially qualified
  • Good ICT skills and able to pick up new systems quickly
  • Self-motivated, flexible and team player with ability to meet deadlines effectively
