Special Educational Needs Support Assistant

About the Role: TeacherActive is excited to collaborate with educational institutions that cater to students with diverse needs, including Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Your Responsibilities: As a Special Educational Needs Support Assistant, you will work closely with students aged 5 to 19, collaborating with teachers and therapists to create tailored support plans. Your role will involve implementing strategies to manage challenging behaviors and promote a secure learning environment.
Engagement and Learning: You will assist educators in designing and delivering engaging lessons that cater to the unique abilities and learning styles of each student. This includes providing both one-on-one and group support to students with additional needs.
Welfare and Safety: In your role, you will prioritize the physical, social, and emotional well-being of students, adapting your support to meet their individual requirements.
Qualifications: We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Support Assistant who is available for various placements. Ideal candidates should possess:
- Level 3 qualification and/or at least 6 months of experience in an educational setting
- A calm, patient, and compassionate demeanor
- Strong communication skills
- A solid understanding of child protection and safeguarding protocols
- Experience in providing educational support on both an individual and small group basis
- Effective behavior management techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal staff
