Position Overview

As a Marine Electrical Lecturer, your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Delivering educational content across various courses within the Marine department, utilizing diverse teaching methods tailored to meet departmental needs and your specific expertise.
  • Engaging in the design, implementation, and strategic planning of the curriculum.
  • Fostering an inclusive learning environment by considering:
    • Individual learning preferences.
    • Support mechanisms for students with learning challenges and disabilities.
    • Advanced resources and activities for high-achieving students.
    • General educational tools, including Information Learning Technology.
  • Coordinating and participating in relevant educational excursions, including site visits and partnerships with external organizations to enrich the student experience.
  • Creating an exceptional learning atmosphere that promotes student progression and employability.
  • Assessing and grading student submissions, tracking progress towards personal goals, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely feedback to students, guardians, employers, and college administration as necessary.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Possession of a Level 3 Qualification in Marine Electrical or an equivalent qualification from the Royal Navy or Merchant Navy.
  • A Teaching Qualification or a commitment to obtain one.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Marine Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in facilitating learning in either educational or professional environments.
  • Familiarity with current evidence-based practices in the field.
  • Proficiency in advanced mathematics.
  • Experience as an Electro-Technical Officer (ETO).
