Position Overview

As a Marine Electrical Instructor, your role will encompass a variety of responsibilities aimed at enhancing the educational experience within the Marine department. Your duties will include:

  • Instruction: Delivering engaging lessons across agreed courses, utilizing diverse teaching methods to cater to the unique needs of students.
  • Curriculum Development: Actively participating in the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the curriculum.
  • Inclusive Learning: Fostering an inclusive environment by addressing:
    • Individual learning preferences.
    • Support mechanisms for students with learning challenges.
    • Advanced resources for high-achieving students.
    • Utilization of Information Learning Technology.
  • Experiential Learning: Organizing and engaging in relevant field trips, enrichment activities, and ship visits, while collaborating with external partners to enrich the student experience.
  • Student Support: Crafting an exceptional educational journey that promotes student progression and employability.
  • Assessment: Preparing and evaluating student assignments, tracking progress towards personal goals, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely feedback to students and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Qualification in Marine Electrical or equivalent experience from the Royal Navy or Merchant Navy.
  • Teaching Qualification or a commitment to obtain one.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in Marine Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in facilitating learning in educational or professional environments.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based practices in the field.
  • Proficiency in advanced mathematics.
  • Experience as an Electro-Technical Officer (ETO).
