Position Overview
We are pleased to present the opportunity for a Nutritional Support Assistant within the welcoming and collaborative Home Enteral Tube Feeding Dietetic Team, part of Somerset NHS Foundation Trust.
The Nutritional Support Assistant will initially be appointed at Band 3, with the potential to advance to a Band 4 Dietetic Assistant Practitioner upon successful completion of designated competencies.
We encourage applications from individuals with prior experience in a healthcare environment and a strong passion for nutrition and dietetics.
Key Responsibilities
This role is integral to our small, dedicated home enteral tube feeding team, which operates within the Specialist Clinical Services across Somerset.
The position encompasses a variety of tasks, including:
- Direct patient interaction, such as visiting patients at their residences or during clinical appointments.
- Collecting and recording patient measurements, including weights and heights.
- Conducting follow-up assessments via telephone to monitor patient progress.
- Administrative duties, including managing appointments and overseeing patient orders for home enteral feeding supplies.
- Addressing inquiries and contributing to team organization and project initiatives.
This role is ideal for an individual with exceptional organizational and interpersonal abilities, seeking to become a vital member of a progressive and supportive dietetic service. A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are essential due to the travel requirements of the position.
Our team is dedicated to providing dietetic assistance to individuals of all ages with complex health issues and/or learning disabilities who require tube feeding at home.
We prioritize delivering personalized patient-centered care and collaborate closely with a diverse multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals such as consultants, nutrition nurses, community nurses, and therapists.
