Deputy Medical Director Opportunity at SWASFT

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Medical Director to join their team. This is a substantive role, working 1 day (2 programmed activities) per week, and will involve deputising for the Medical Director(s) as needed internally and externally.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and governance in events medical cover
  • Line manage Trust Event Doctors
  • Lead the Medical Director team for an ICB area

The ideal candidate will have significant evidence of clinical experience in the delivery of urgent and emergency care, as well as experience of medical or clinical leadership within the ambulance service or another NHS organisation. They will also have an understanding of ambulance service structure and function, including the relationship with the wider healthcare system.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Postgraduate medical qualification (MRCGP, FRCEM or equivalent)
  • Substantive consultant or GP equivalent role
  • Current membership of the Performers List and the General Medical Council
  • Diploma in Urgent Care or Immediate Medical Care
  • Membership of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine
