About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Project Planner to join our team at Southern Water. As a key member of our Programme Management Office (PMO), you will play a critical role in the development, maintenance, and performance management of programme schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Programme Schedules: Create and manage programme schedules using Primavera P6, ensuring they are realistic and aligned with project deliverables.
  • Forensic Programme Analysis: Conduct thorough analysis of programme schedules to identify trends, critical path, and areas for improvement.
  • Resource Scheduling and Risk Management: Manage resources, risks, and costs associated with programme schedules, ensuring effective project delivery.
  • Development of Programme Schedule Baselines: Establish programme schedule baselines to track and performance manage against Southern Water's gateway milestones and regulatory outcomes.
  • Standardisation and Streamlining: Support the standardisation and streamlining of reporting tools and techniques to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Project Specific Programme Summary Reports: Create project-specific programme summary reports to inform business decision-making.
  • Contractor Programme Interrogation: Interrogate contractor-submitted programmes for acceptance, summarise findings, and present to the project team on required actions for compliance.
  • Stakeholder Coordination and Management: Coordinate and manage stakeholders to provide consistent and clear information on programme schedules.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven Experience in Project Planning and Control: Demonstrated experience in project planning and control, with a good understanding of data and process controls.
  • Expertise in Primavera P6 and Programme Management Software: Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and other programme management software, including the NEC suite of conditions of contract.
  • APM/Prince II Methodology and Microsoft Office Suite: Good understanding of APM/Prince II methodology and proficient user of Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Confident communicator with great interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively with stakeholders and manage multiple workstreams in parallel.
Desirable Qualifications

Preferably degree-educated in a civil or construction sector, or demonstrable experience and track record operating in a similar role with proven professional development courses. Water experience and chartered status with a relevant professional body are highly desirable.
