Network Rail's Capital Delivery Eastern – Renewals & Minor Enhancements division is presenting an opportunity for a motivated, detail-oriented, and ambitious individual to become part of the Electrification & Plant (E&P) Renewals team. This is an exciting phase for the Eastern Region as significant funding has been allocated for the renewal of E&P assets, in collaboration with our supply chain partners.

The selected candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of small to medium-sized asset renewal initiatives while providing support to the broader E&P portfolio across various routes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation of a comprehensive development and approval framework for assigned projects, focusing on clear and measurable outcomes to facilitate efficient procurement and contract award.
  • Identify and assist in securing optimal solutions for clients and stakeholders, analyzing various scheduling and cost options to contribute to effective project planning and delivery.
  • Develop access strategies for projects to ensure a balance between affordability and minimal disruption to passenger and freight operations.
  • Implement funding strategies for projects to secure necessary incremental funding, promoting efficient project management principles.
  • Define specific and measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in pre-contract documentation to enable active monitoring throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Execute established contracting and procurement strategies for projects in compliance with legislative and corporate governance standards.
  • Evaluate supplier proposals to support timely contract awards, aligning with overall program objectives.
  • Facilitate the management of assurance reviews within assigned projects, ensuring compliance with core systems and processes.
  • Monitor the assurance framework relevant to project stages, reviewing supply chain compliance with established requirements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Membership or progress towards membership of the Association for Project Management.
  • Relevant project management qualifications.
  • Experience in contracting and project delivery.
  • Knowledge of project budget management and health and safety legislation.
  • Understanding of procurement principles and assurance processes.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the PACE Framework.
  • Knowledge of Electrification & Plant railway systems.
  • Experience with NEC4 contracts and risk management.

This role offers the potential for flexible working arrangements, with a requirement for site-based activities such as inspections and audits. Flexibility in scheduling may be necessary to accommodate project needs.
