We are seeking a highly skilled Asset Manager to join our team at Network Rail. As an Asset Manager, you will play a critical role in the implementation and management of Capital Investment plans on behalf of the Route Engineer (Structures).
Key Responsibilities- Schedule Asset Intervention: Schedule asset intervention in accordance with functional policy, systems, and standards. Implement mitigation measures where proposed management actions are deferred.
- Prioritize Actions: Prioritize actions to address defects, comments, and other issues raised in reports, in accordance with standards and functional policy through the development of project remits. Oversee the development, implementation, and handover of prioritized work items to realize the required outputs.
- Engineering Analysis and Risk Assessments: Undertake engineering analysis and risk assessments of assets or asset components to support the asset management process and scheme development, including business cases and whole life cost analysis.
- Asset Condition and Capability Trend Data: Monitor and evaluate asset condition and capability trend data, and failure precursors to inform strengthening, risk mitigation, and renewal plans to efficiently achieve corporate objectives.
- Enhancement Schemes and Network Capability Programmes: Provide support to the specification and development of enhancement schemes and manage the interface with network capability programmes.
- Best Practice and Continuous Improvement: Liaise with the central structures team to develop and disseminate consistent best practice through structured continuous improvement to further refine processes in line with functional policy and standards.
- Adverse Weather and Operational Incidents: Determine mitigation actions necessary to reduce the impact of adverse weather on the performance of structures assets and provide out of hours on-call support to manage operational incidents associated with Structures.
- Structures Asset Data and Information: Maintain structures asset data and information within the company systems and processes in line with CDM duties.
- Review of Proposals and Technical Development: Review proposals from other disciplines or external organizations that could impact on the route structures assets and/or programmes of work to identify potential synergies or conflicts. Control the technical development of projects, ascertaining that renewal requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted, and any changes are agreed with Route Asset Manager.
- Qualifications: HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Experience: Substantial relevant experience in structures or civil engineering.
- Knowledge: A sound knowledge of structures engineering policies and standards, knowledge of structures assessment, and an understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
- Professional Development: Working towards membership of a relevant professional institution.
- Qualifications: Civil Engineering Degree (BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng) – UK Engineering Council Accredited.
- Professional Membership: Incorporated Engineer (IEng MICE/FICE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE/FICE).
- Knowledge: A sound knowledge of structural engineering compliance, policies, and standards, a sound knowledge of asset management principles (lifecycles, models, systems, and tools), an understanding of CDM2015, safety management systems, and risk assessment techniques, and an understanding of capital investment sponsorship (programme management and controls).
