Job Title: Consultant Neurologist with Specialist Interest in Epilepsy

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Neurologist to join our team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will have a specialist interest in Epilepsy and will be responsible for delivering high-quality neurology services in the region.

About the Role

The post will entail the delivery of neurology services in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as provision of sub-specialty expertise to complement the delivery of a high-quality, comprehensive Neurology service by the department. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to the delivery of teaching and training to students at Nottingham University Medical School, as well as to contribute to the teaching, training and supervision of Specialist Trainees in Neurology, who are in the East Midlands Deanery training programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality neurology services in inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Provide sub-specialty expertise to complement the delivery of a high-quality, comprehensive Neurology service by the department
  • Contribute to the delivery of teaching and training to students at Nottingham University Medical School
  • Contribute to the teaching, training and supervision of Specialist Trainees in Neurology
Person Specification
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Eligible to be included on the specialist register (or CCT expected within 6 months)
  • Further higher training or qualification MD or PhD
Qualifications
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent CCT/CESR or European Right to Work
  • Higher Professional Degree SCE
Experience
  • Have trained in part or whole at a recognised neurology centre. In total four years training in neurology at SpR/ST level or equivalent
  • Development of subspecialty interest to compliment the dept
Communication Skills
  • Evidenced clinical skills as described in the job description
  • Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals
  • Specific Training in Communication Skills
  • Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
Management Skills
  • Ability to develop, present and operationalise coherent ideas for service development/delivery
  • Able to work in a team
  • Higher Management Degree or Qualification or Training
  • Experience of Change Management
Personal Skills
  • Able to work flexibly in changing health service, including changes made necessary by response to Covid-19
  • Able to use Trust's IT support systems
Teaching, Audit and Research
  • Evidence or participation in Clinical Audit
  • Able to teach and support junior staff effectively
  • Original Research Publications
  • Higher teaching degree or qualification or training
