Smart Grid Solutions Architect for Utilities

Key Responsibilities:

· Deliver functional and technical architectural expertise in various aspects of Operational Technology (OT) implementations, including solution architecture, system design, blueprinting, roadmap development, gap analysis, and system implementation strategies.

· Facilitate the execution of projects to aid electric utilities in managing OT systems, encompassing SCADA, ADMS, EMS, GIS, and AMI system planning, implementation, testing, and operation.

· Assist in defining business requirements, developing requests for proposals, and evaluating vendors.

· Support the proposal evaluation and selection process, including the development of statements of work and vendor contract negotiations.

· Aid in solution design, documentation, planning, implementation, vendor management, testing, and acceptance.

Key Skills/Knowledge:

Technical Skills:

· Leverage relevant utility experience to engage with client utilities, understanding their specific applications, methodologies, and approaches in Electric Distribution Operational systems.

· Hands-on experience with OEM ADMS & OMS systems such as PowerOn, eTerra, ABB Network Manager, Oracle NMS, OATI, Schneider, or Siemens Grid systems.

· Proficiency in programming languages (Python, Java, .Net) and databases (SQL, MySQL).

· Comprehensive knowledge of hardware, software, and architecture, including market trends and consulting-level experience.

· Familiarity with ADMS and DERMS implementations, both on-premises and in cloud environments (Azure/AWS).

· Understanding of ADMS/DERMS system functionalities, including load forecasting, demand management, DER resource scheduling, and network congestion management.

· Knowledge of GIS systems (Smallworld, ESRI) and Smart AMI metering.

· Expertise in ADMS functionalities such as fault management through FLISR/FDIR, feeder reconfiguration, load-shedding, and voltage VAR control.

· Preferred candidates will have experience from electric utilities or consulting entities servicing this domain.

· Knowledge of IT/OT and security standards (e.g., NERC CIP).

· Expertise in developing requirements, testing, acceptance, and transition processes.

· Familiarity with current standards and regulations governing power systems.

Industry Knowledge Capability:

· Strong understanding of electric utility distribution planning, engineering, and operations.

· Knowledge of electricity generation, distributed generation, energy storage, and associated controls.

· Utilize specialized utility system design and planning knowledge to produce moderately complex work products and solutions across engagements.

· Assess the effectiveness of clients' use of tools, applications, and processes to adapt to new OT applications for solution areas such as DERMS, DRMS, ADMS, OMS, and SCADA.

· Apply appropriate methods or recognized equivalents to meet identified client needs.

· Anticipate and resolve technical challenges with occasional assistance from others.

Experience Required:

- Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronic, or computer engineering, or a similar technical field.

- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business and technical consulting or relevant engagement implementation services related to ADMS, DERMS, or SCADA.

- At least 5 years of experience in electricity systems.
