Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to join our team at the University of Oxford. As a Senior Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting our animal research facility and ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and research integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to research staff and students in the design, implementation, and maintenance of animal research projects.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Animals Scientific Procedures Act 1986, and maintain accurate records of animal use and research activities.
  • Develop and implement effective animal care and welfare protocols, and participate in regular animal health checks and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new research projects and initiatives, and provide input on research design and methodology.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs for research staff and students on animal research techniques and best practices.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience in animal research and a strong understanding of animal welfare and research ethics.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as IAT Level 3 or equivalent, and/or relevant experience or education.
