Multidisciplinary Physiotherapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multidisciplinary Physiotherapist to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Band 6 Senior OPAL Physiotherapist, you will play a key role in providing timely and effective assessments to patients with acute needs within our hospital.
Main Responsibilities- Assessment and Treatment
- Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments in the Emergency Department, Acute Medical Unit, and Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (FSDEC) to identify patients' needs and develop individualized care plans.
- Provide timely and effective patient-centered assessments to those with acute needs within the hospital.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with community services to ensure patients receive the support and treatment they need in the most appropriate setting.
- Leadership and Supervision
- Supervise and support junior staff, including undergraduate students on clinical placements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the FSDEC service.
- Essential
- BSc Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- HCPC registration.
- 18 months' experience as a Band 5 Physiotherapist.
- Experience of working within an NHS trust.
- Desirable
- Evidence of leadership training.
- Interest or membership in the Acute Medical Society.
- Specialist Knowledge
- Specialist knowledge in the field of frailty syndromes and interventions for older people.
- Experience
- Experience of working at Band 5 level or above within the NHS.
- Good understanding of working in an acute trust.
- Experience in the supervision and management of junior staff.
- Evidence of and desire to supervise students.
- Understanding of current legislation and application to physiotherapy.
- Additional Criteria
- Demonstrate a professional attitude.
- Ability to cope with moving/manoeuvring patients/equipment on a daily basis.
- Ability to cope with occasional exposure to distressing/emotional situations.
- Demonstrate an interest in developing expertise within older adults assessments.
