About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant in Respiratory Medicine to join our dynamic team at Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Respiratory Medicine department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert clinical care to patients with respiratory conditions, including lung cancer, sleep disorders, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
  • Conduct ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and lung cancer services, including weekly EBUS/bronchoscopy lists and lung MDT meetings.
  • Develop and maintain excellent liaison and working relationships with other departments and agencies within and outside the Trust.
  • Contribute to the continuing development of all aspects of clinical work in the department and the quality of the service.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, clinical governance meetings, and specialty governance meetings.
Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant with:

  • MB BS, MB ChB, or equivalent qualification.
  • Higher medical qualification (medical education/teaching and MRCP, MRCGP, or equivalent) training.
  • Full current GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • CCT/Specialist Registration in Respiratory and General Medicine or eligibility for registration within six months of interview.
  • Completion or nearing completion of higher speciality training or equivalent.
  • Experience in Respiratory Medicine.
  • Excellent advanced communication skills.
  • Experience of participation in and leading clinical audit.
