The Role

We are in search of a driven and experienced Floor Manager to become an integral part of our vibrant team at Mortimer House. The Floor Manager will oversee and ensure the successful execution of events and the overall guest experience within the venue. The ideal candidate will work closely with the General Manager, Head of Events, Head Chef, and fellow Floor Managers to guarantee smooth operations and outstanding service delivery. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Event Management and Coordination:

  • Prepare event spaces for upcoming operations and meticulously plan logistics for a complex property.
  • Proactively promote food and beverage offerings while demonstrating attention to detail and initiative.
  • Monitor departmental service and teamwork, providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Address all guest feedback promptly and appropriately to enhance and maintain a positive reputation.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety standards, as well as Licensing Laws.
  • Oversee the seamless delivery of high-profile, bespoke events.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding guest privacy.
  • Take ownership of event spaces, manage facilities, and ensure proper venue maintenance.

Food and Beverage Coordination:

  • Work closely with the Food & Beverage team for event planning.
  • Fulfill Floor Manager shifts in the restaurant as required by business needs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper functionality of food and beverage areas and related equipment.

Staff Management and Operations:

  • Manage equipment inventory and place orders for replacements or additions as necessary.
  • Maintain a pool of skilled staff through agencies.
  • Enhance employee productivity and satisfaction through effective communication and motivation.
  • Foster positive working relationships across all departments and perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in event operations or a similar managerial role within the hospitality sector.
  • Strong knowledge of and adherence to Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Licensing Laws.
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
