About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Midwife for Safeguarding Children to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Specialist Midwife, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of vulnerable families and children.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care to socially vulnerable women and their families.
  • Identify and coordinate the provision of multidisciplinary care for complex child protection issues.
  • Support staff in dealing with child protection issues and provide training and advice as needed.
  • Work closely with external partners, such as CCGs and Local Authorities, to ensure effective safeguarding practices.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife on the NMC Register.
  • Supported Learning in the Clinical Environment.
  • Relevant Child Protection training.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Domestic Violence, including relevant legislation, national policy, and professional standards.
  • Mentorship qualification.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Safeguarding Supervision course attended.
  • Significant experience in managing Child Protection issues.
  • Experience of undertaking audits and implementing/monitoring action plans.
  • Evidence of previous teaching experience.
