Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Midwife to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Specialist Midwife for Safeguarding Children, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of mothers and their babies.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care to socially vulnerable women
  • Identifying and coordinating the provision of multidisciplinary care for complex child protection issues
  • Supporting staff in managing child protection issues and providing training and guidance as needed
  • Working closely with external partners, such as the CCG and Local Authority, to ensure effective safeguarding practices
  • Leading teaching sessions to share learning and promote best practices in safeguarding
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration as a Midwife on the NMC Register
  • Relevant child protection training and experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence, including relevant legislation and national policy
  • Mentorship qualification and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
