About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Midwife to join our Maternity Safeguarding Team. As a Specialist Safeguarding Midwife, you will play a crucial role in supporting staff in providing optimal care for vulnerable families, achieving the best possible outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Work autonomously, managing and overseeing practitioners and their caseload of vulnerable families within the specialty, while working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualized care.
  • Act as a role model, demonstrating high standards of care and providing expert and professional clinical leadership in the specialist areas.
  • Demonstrate appropriate expert practice and highly specialist advice in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Directly supervise, support, and advise midwifery teams, by the provision of specialist knowledge and advice in relation to the safeguarding of vulnerable families.

Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with a Degree in Midwifery.
  • Significant relevant post-registration experience, including experience of managing vulnerable families.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with good verbal and written skills.
  • Understanding and knowledge of confidentiality within a safeguarding setting.
  • Able to work well in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of national and local child protection policy and legislative framework.
  • Proficient in the use of maternity and Trust IT systems and databases.
