About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Midwife for Safeguarding Children to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Specialist Midwife, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safeguarding and protection of vulnerable families and children within our maternity services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based midwifery care to vulnerable families, prioritizing their safety and wellbeing.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary care for socially vulnerable women, providing support, advice, and training to staff dealing with complex child protection issues.
  • Identify and address potential safeguarding risks, working closely with external partners, such as CCGs and Local Authorities.
  • Develop and implement effective safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with national standards and legislation.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to enhance and promote the health, wellbeing, and safeguarding of mothers and their babies.
Person Specification

We are looking for a midwife with:

Registered Midwife status on the NMC Register.Relevant Child Protection training and experience in managing child protection issues.Knowledge and understanding of Domestic Violence, including relevant legislation, national policy, and professional standards.Mentorship qualification and experience in teaching and training.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.What We Offer
